While, I don't really have a solution to suggest, I will post a problem I've come across.
How does time in Halcyon work?
I asked myself this while putting in my daily sketchbook installment, and it only brought me problem after problem. Here's are my basic thoughts on the subject:
Halcyon is a social rpg, so I want people to interact, but if people are interacting in one section of halcyon, how can they interact with people in another region at the same time? If you talk to another character in one region, and another character in another region, are those two different points in time? Is it an alternate universe? (I hope it's not that last one because I hate that excuse) If you decide that your posts in one region come after points in another region, but you commonly update both, how will you deal with character altering events? For example, if you decide one string of posts is the farthest into the past, and on the 30th post in that string, a battle ensues and you lose an arm, how do you explain how you still have that arm in a different string you were working on in another region? Must we resort to restricting character altering events? I hope not, because that would further restrict the creativity of the rp'ers. But I also don't want to have to go back and alter every post in a string because of an event in the past string. Are some characters doomed to be forever separated from other characters by time? I don't know.
So I just need some thoughts on this subject. By the way, is it just me, or am I a little too obsessed with perfecting this rpg? ;D
